Hoboken Youth Soccer League (HYSL)

 Thank you.

To Our Hoboken Youth Soccer Community,

Thank you all for another spectacular season of Hoboken Youth Soccer.  As this season ends we reflect of our goals and accomplishments and take the opportunity to thank all those who have been instrumental in having our best season ever.

Truly, the HYSL has become the most popular and participated youth sport in Hoboken and we would not want to have it any other way.  There were many accomplishments for the 2011 year including:

  • Re-organization of league committee leaders.
  • Record enrollment of over 900 players.
  • 61 formed teams.
  • Almost 300 total games.
  • First organized soccer league play at the Hoboken Housing Authority.
  • Mass re-alignment of divisions and teams to better align within the appropriate age groups.
  • An amazing accomplishment of recruiting over 100 coaches.
  • First every NSCAA certified coaching clinic for all our coaches to be certified.
  • The establishments of Facebook and Twitter for better league communications.
  • Player of the week acknowledgements and certificates.

We would like thank some key groups and organizations in which without their help we would not be able have a season.

·         Thank you to all our Sponsors for their continued financial support of our league and our players.

·         Mayor Dawn Zimmer and The City of Hoboken for their continued support, providing the league the resources and ability to play in this wonderful community.

·         The Hoboken Recreation Department, Hoboken Housing Authority and the Hoboken Board of Education and their staff for providing the facilities and the support for games and practices at those facilities.

·         All the league committee leaders who put in countless hours to make sure we are providing a quality experience for our kids, Josie Buonsanto, Dominic Lucivero, Lucy Rodriguez, John Ratto, Jim Tucker and John Madigan.

·         To all our referees for all thier efforts in keeping our games safe and fun.

·         To all in our soccer community who have offered us comments, suggestions and most important support in the continued success of the HYSL.

·         To our parents who take our kids to all their practices and games and do everything else in between and as well as to our players for participating and having fun playing the game we love.

·         Most importantly, to all our coaches and parent volunteers that spend endless hours and hard work tending to league updates, emails, communications to parents, run practices, team organization and that are not only coaches but mentors in

teaching the kids sportsmanship, fairplay and many values to our kids. You all are really what make this league possible.

We also need to recognize some key people whose support of the HYSL goes above and beyond what is expected of anyone. These people truly make this league run and without their help we would not be here today.

·         Leo Pellegrini whose direction and support of the Hoboken Youth Soccer League as well as all the children of Hoboken are so much appreciated by all the Hoboken Community.

·         Josie Buonsanto who’s endless hours of organization and dedication has provided our community with the best recreational program in Hoboken.

·         Lucy Rodriguez and John Ratto for all their hours of support and dedication to the HYSL.

·         Carmelo Garcia for your support in allowing us the use of the Hoboken Housing Authority (Mama Johnson) field.

·         Victor Chirichella of the Hoboken Recreation Department who coordinates the setup and break down of our game fields, sometime at inhumane times of the day.

·         To all our loved ones who tolerate all the hours of time spent away in order to provide our community a place where the kids can laugh, cheer and play the beautiful sport of soccer.

Our hard work does not end!  As we approach and prepare for the 2012 season, we have many more plans to improve the HYSL.  Some of our plans include:

  • Preparing for new facilities at 1600 and the reopening of Frank Sinatra Park.
  • Improving the registration process.
  • Recruiting additional directors to better help with league functions.
  • Creation of a new and improved web-site.
  • Regular newsletter to our HYSL Community.
  • More training for our Recreational Coaches with the help of the NSCAA.
  • State certification courses for all our referees.
  • Better alignment of teams for more league parity.

THANK YOU!!!
